The Mission: Advocacy, Access, and Surgical Excellence

Vascular surgery exists at the intersection of high-stakes technical innovation and complex healthcare systems. True surgical excellence requires more than mastery of the operating room; it requires a commitment to patient advocacy and ensuring that medical innovation is accessible to the individuals who need it most.

The Practice

Daniel Torrent, MD, is a board-certified vascular surgeon practicing in North Georgia at The Longstreet Clinic at Northeast Georgia Health Systems. He is primarily focused at locations in Gainesville and Braselton, Georgia. His clinical approach is built on the belief that superior medical care must be rooted in the best available evidence while remaining fiercely centered on the individual needs and circumstances of the patient.

Educated at The Ohio State University, with residency at East Carolina University and fellowship training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Dr. Torrent spent several years at the Carilion Clinic Aortic Center in Virginia. During his time there, he served as Associate Professor of Surgery at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, dedicated to the education and mentorship of the next generation of surgeons. After his transition to North Georgia, he has continued his commitment to education where he is faculty in the general surgery residency program and is the Associate Director of Surgical Simulation for the residency.

Advocacy & Policy

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and an active member of the Society for Vascular Surgery, Dr. Torrent’s work extends into the broader landscape of healthcare and public education. He has spoken at regional and national conferences including the Society for Vascular Surgery Vascular Annual Meeting, Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, and Southern Association for Vascular Surgery.

His commitment to health equity is reflected in his role as an Ambassador for the SVS Highway to Health public education campaign. He is also a member of the SVS Quality Improvement Committee, and the Steering Committee for the Section on Ambulatory Vascular Care.

Through his professional social media presence and recent work on publications regarding the gap between innovation and implementation in the messy reality of clinical practice, he advocates for a healthcare model that prioritizes patient access to advanced vascular care.
